The BBC need to do this more often:

Has anyone seen what The Sun has said about the Queen stepping down from Cenotaph duties? I only ask as it seems their political editor isn't keen...

Wowsers. Considering Brenda is 91, has laid a wreath in Whitehall for 61 of the last 65 years (and two of those she didn't was only because she was pregnant), lived through the war, saw service herself, and wants to stay with her 96 year old husband who saw plenty of active service, you'd think she'd be given a bit of a break.

It was a 'sorry people misinterpreted me' apology Tweet but at least Newton-Dunn cut his losses.

I've reread it, and can see but one interpretation.

Having another tantrum and continuing to cement the narrative and the inevitable Brexit shit storm must be blamed on the EU:

Quote:
THE SUN SAYS The EU needs to stop making insane demands and let us get on with negotiations or we freeze any future talks until we get a commitment

IT is now blindingly obvious to all that the EU is making insane and impossible demands.

It blames Britain for the Brexit deadlock. Anyone can see that is down to Brussels insisting on us offering up a monstrous exit payment without them promising anything firm in return.

Car buyers don’t agree a price without knowing what they’re paying for. David Davis would be out of his mind to buckle.

Even EU negotiator Michel Barnier must regret the untenable position Germany and France have put him in.

Next week they may let him make his first preparations for trade negotiations. But if Angela Merkel and President Macron refuse to let those begin in full without yet more concessions from Britain over our bill, we have little option.

We should schedule no further talks without a solid commitment to working out a transition and a free trade deal.

Only then should we talk money.

We must also make detailed preparations for a “no deal” — and hope they wake up to the folly of being pig-headed.

Merkel and Macron are jeopardising jobs and living standards across the UK and Europe. Leavers and Remainers, at loggerheads for so long, share a growing disgust for the EU’s brinkmanship.

Hearts here are hardening. We want a deal, but Britain will not be bullied. A survey shows a huge majority backing “no deal” over a bad one.

Brussels does not want that. It would be an economic and political calamity. But as the clock ticks that is the danger.

And if it happens, we fear an explosion of antipathy towards the EU — and the goods it will still want to sell us.

Now I haven't seen the interview, so it's possible Corbyn handled the question badly, but from I gather, Corbyn simply stated that he'd have preferred Sally “White Widow” Jones was arrested and stand trial rather than blown up (and potentially her young son) by a drone strike. He also expressed his concern about Drones and the potential of civilians being killed by them. Nothing unusual from a pacifist.

According to The Sun, this means he hates Our Boys and would prefer to risk their lives and spare terorists. Also, his concern for civilian casualties caused by drone strikes is "waffled about drones’ impact on civilians, and the need to examine all the facts, and so on and so on."

Quote:
Jez drones on

IT should be a simple yes/no for any wannabe Prime Minister.

Would you have authorised a drone strike on Sally “White Widow” Jones to keep our troops out of harm’s way?

Jeremy Corbyn wriggled, complaining it was hypothetical. But so are ALL questions about what he would do as PM.

He said he’d rather Jones had simply been arrested, an act apparently as straightforward as everything else is in Jezza’s alternative fantasy land of magic.

Then he waffled about drones’ impact on civilians, and the need to examine all the facts, and so on and so on. From which blether we can only deduce this:

Corbyn WOULD risk our soldiers’ lives to spare a murderous IS terrorist posing a direct threat to Britain.

Why can’t he just be honest?

Two things immediately spring to mind.

1, Killing White Widow rather than bringing her to trial. After the end of World War 2 the surviving members of the Nazi leadership did actually get a trial, would they have objected to this?

2, Drones. Bombing civilian targets has attracted controversy for years, it is a legitimate concern. In addition, it is not effective militarily, the American carpet bombing of Vietnam did not win the war there, German war production actually increased towards the end of World War 2 when the RAF area bombing campaign intensified

Regarding 2, that's what strikes me the most about this attack on Corybn. The first part is the usual bollocks, emotional blackmail using Our Boys as a tool. Standard stuff from The Sun.

But when someone raises an already prominent concern about drone strikes and the danger of them killing innocent men, women and children - to respond to that with:

Quote:
Then he waffled about drones’ impact on civilians, and the need to examine all the facts, and so on and so on.

is fucking disgusting, to be honest.

Utterly disgusting. This concern goes all the way back to the 1930s and an attempt was made to ban attacks on civilian targets then.

BBC’s hissy fit over Brexit bias research PROVES it has something to hide

This important piece of research - published yesterday in the Sun - triggered a hissy fit at our publicly-funded national broadcaster

Quote:
SO now we know. The BBC hates Brexit so much it has four times more pro-EU guests on its flagship politics shows than those who voted Leave.

So the BBC correcting outright lies by The Sun = hissy fit.

Then they go on to repeat the lie again. Pathetic.

If it was anyone else you'd suggest they could be taking the piss out of the tabloids. But that avenue isn't really open to him.
