Well not quite. They are reporting that unnamed US officials have accused Russians of that. See below.

Quote:
Four Russian cruise missiles fired at Syria from the Caspian Sea landed in Iran, unnamed US officials say.

Quite ironic really. You "straw man" accuse me of believing everything Putin and Assad say (which I don't) and then proceed to believe the words of an anonymous US official.

Hence why this reminds me of Bill O'Reilly during the Iraq invasion.

Nor did the article I linked to say Putin was supporting just that Putin wasn't just targeting ISIS.

The Russian edition of Maxim have published a list of male celebrities they ‘forgive’ for being gay

Hmmm. So a tad less bigoted than the Daily Mail, then.

I suppose the rabid homophobia appeals to the Russian market.

When it comes to Russia it's time for some real realism

http://nobsrussia.com/2016/02/25/real-realism/

Quote:
Beware the snake oil known as foreign policy “realism” or “pragmatism,” at least when it comes to Russia. Every time I read something from a “realist” or “pragmatist” it always starts out more or less fine, but then soon degenerates into blaming all Putin’s bad behavior entirely on the West, and suggesting a “compromise” that basically amounts to giving the Kremlin whatever it wants, whatever the case. Usually these people portray themselves as moderates, objective observers standing in no-man’s land between rabid neocons in the West and Kremlin-supported neo-imperialists in Russia. Yet one cannot help but notice how quickly their arguments degenerate into a collection of tried and true Kremlin talking points, and their “solutions” require the West or its allies to make all the concessions while Russia isn’t bound to reciprocate.

Texas seems the obvious choice there.

I seem to recall from a documentary many years ago, we developed a ridiculously powerful missile ourselves after the USSR test-fired the Tsar Bomba. There is a pretty major flaw in taking the 'bigger=better' approach with nukes, once you get to this level, they're actually pretty shit at destroying things on the ground, as a huge amount of the energy ends up going straight out in a plume into space. This is why the US, UK and France use missiles that fly up into the high atmosphere, then break apart and rain down up to 11 independently-targeted warheads to carpet bomb a given territory. Gives the most effective scorchio:rouble ratio.

I might be being naive here but I'm really not sure it matters. We, Europe, the US, Russia etc all have enough nukes to ensure that if a nuclear war did happen then the world would simply be turned to rubble. Yes, Russia could raze London but by the same token we could obliterate Moscow. There are no winners. It's all just muscle flexing and dick waving.
