POPE FRANCIS: BEING AN ATHEIST IS ALRIGHT AS LONG AS YOU DO GOOD

Well, for a start, how does the pope explain the concept of 'good' to atheists?

That said, at least this guy does seem to have read the sermon on the mount.

Is this the same Pope who is offering forgiveness of sins to anyone who follows him on Twitter?

I understand the desire to appear more modern and tolerant a figurehead than past popes (if that's his intention), but I can't help but think most will find it very hard to take him seriously.

It's actually turning out to be a good week for clerical types:

First the top man in the Vatican says atheism can be OK.

Now The Queen's top Vicar is pledging to kick the shit out of Wonga (I think that's how he phrased it).

Just saw that on the news. Anyone who wants to kick shit out of Wonga and the rest of their ilk has my support on that specific quest. Vinny Cable was going on about how unacceptable these moneylenders were so the interviewer said "well you're in a position to do something about it!" VC just mumbled something unconvincing about how they were starting to regulate them. Yeah alright.

Beaker muttered something of Five Lice this afternoon about if the CofE wanted to enter the financial services industry, that was fine by him. Tier 2 capital ratios were not mentioned but I guess the church has enough capital to cover any eventuality.

Did I mention that one of my Mothers-Out-Law got a gong for her work with credit unions in Scotland? I'm immensely proud of her.

I just heard that the CofE's pension fund has invested in Wonga and the archbishop has come out defending Wonga.

Logical consistency christian style.

I'm not sure, but I'm aware that most members of the Vatican worship Papa.
