The level of debate in the Turkish press. Don't fprget Erdogan makes journo's he doesn't like disappear, wants to be executive president for life and is currently hijacking the March 18 Gallipoli celebrations, you know - just like a fascist...

Looks like the less desirable outcome.

Talk of recounts, but pretty gloomy outlook. One of my (Kemalist) Turkish family said "Attaturk died 79 years ago, they buried him today".

I know how the 48% are feeling today. I saw a poll of overseas voters and Turks in European countries voted for Erdogan's proposal apart from the UK where he could only muster a measly 15%. I don't know why maybe the Turks here are from Northern Cyprus and detached from mainland politics.

Sweeping generalisation alert. Turks migrating to the UK tend to work for themselves (or their family), and tend to come from the big three cities - Istanbul, Ankara and Izmir ( which voted No, I'm led to believe - although I'm willing to be corrected).

Yes.

Erdogan has had great success in importing rural Turks to Istanbul, giving them washing machines and indoor toilets and counting on their vote. Not too sure Izmir would stand for it. Last week, I was shepherded away from his motorcade by a very excitable armed policeman as Erdogan made a visit ahead of the referendum. It was all a bit banana republic.

If you haven't seen it, and it's still on iPlayer, the recent 2-part documentary/travelogue on the Beeb was a pretty good pointer to the way Turkey's heading.

Erdogan has sacked most of his senior military officers and is trying NATO's patience with their replacements; loyal sycophants who don't know much.
