The Standard is more of a commuter paper than a London one covering Tory Remain home county constituencies like Maidstone.

That's pretty good odds, tbf. If I was a suitably motivated journalist or TV producer, I'd have me house on it.

Imagine the RHI payments you'd get for one of these.

Bonfires, flegs and flutes are urban RHI.

There's been a bit of barney going on when it was revealed a couple of weeks ago that Belfast and Castlereagh councils had arranged for storage of pallets for the 11th night boney. Supposedly this is to take the bad look off the areas. Some wag reasoned it would be fair to raise the spectre of the council receiving stolen goods, and there was an amusing race between the council getting rid of the pallets, and the "Cahmunnity werkers" reclaiming them from storage. Eventually, Chep* (the big blue pallet company) got involved too.

The remaining store of legal pallets stood at 150 last week. That's down from 5 figures minimum.

This is after several years of trying cleaner "Beacon Fires" and cutting funding for unauthorised and dangerous fires (no actual charges or further action). The degree of pandering is disgusting. Certain scary fuckers want to burn stolen stuff, tyres and pictures of fenians, fire guns over the top, and lamp buckfast and drugs into the kids all night long. The established wisdom is that this must be allowed to happen, because the dread dragon "loyalist anger"** may be disturbed.

*most pallets used in major logistics in the UK and Ireland come from these guys, they're painted bright blue and belong to Chep in perpetuity. They charge for those lost, damaged or stolen, too. One wonders idly what sort of percentage having tens of thousands of them burned once a year does to retail prices &c.

**This is standard unionist politician/media code for "a bunch of cunts will wreck the place". It must always be referred to as such. There are never individuals within it, it exists as an elemental force, and must be appeased like a vengeful god.

This year, Polish, Vatican and EU flags are very much the coming thing for yer well dressed boney. SF election posters will no doubt feature in spades, given there's been two runs of them this year. No word on which dead kid they're insulting yet, but I'll keep my eyes peeled.

Nicking pallets in Belfast in July. Not a case you need to bother Columbo with.

You'd be going some to find a cop near a boney in any kind of professional capacity in any case.
