I think it was his attempt at standing in Stoke which cost him TBH. That really finished off any credibility he had and turned him into a figure of fun.

I think that Fargle could get away with it because like it or not, the British working class have a soft spot for the upper class. But a jumped up PE teacher from Bootle acting like lord of the manor? No chance.
