Rose Winterton has gone... which surprises me.

Nick Brown returns who was chief whip under Gordon Brown, maybe he is making a play for that wing of the party.

I think there was some sort of falling out with Rose Winterton at some point, although I remember not what over

There were rumours she was going stand down but I thought they were rumours, she seemed very loyal.

Nick Brown can be quite the fixer apparently, though Winterton will have known were the bodies were buried of the new intake (Not a lot of New Labour MP's remain).

I also remember him being quite loyal to Brown which makes it odd.

No Shadow Cabinet elections, then?

Was a decision made about this and I missed it?

After a bad week for the Tories, let's just hope Corbyn doesn't do something really daft. Like make Diane Abbott shadow Home Secretary or something.

*Checks news*

Oh. Shit.

They have no leverage to make demands for shad cab elections. Corbyn would just carry on with his skeleton staff and his Pretorian Guard mandate. It's not as if he wants to win anything or his virute maybe compromised and he so desperately wants to be liked.

Diane Abbott appointment as shadow Home Secretary confirmed and Thornberry staying as shadow foreign sec. So top four jobs all London MPs.

She was a civil servant in the home office so she knows the patch. I can only assume Keir Starmer didn't want the job or did Jez decide he wasn't up to it when a talent like Diane is available. Perhaps he was inspired by Boris being foreign secretary.

I've just been called a racist for comparing Diane Abbot to Boris. How does that work?

FAO Haters of Diane Abbot: consider the absurdity of a white man comparing Abbott to Bo-Jo - whiteness, liberal #misogyny and #racism.

Vital but not exactly seeing big economic and geopolitical picture is it

.@Keir_Starmer's role as Shadow Brexit Secretary will be vital to protecting workers' rights in the face of a chaotic Tory Brexit

Labour is in such a bad state right now I wouldn't vote for them if you'd pay me.

Seen so many people calling everyone criticising Diane Abbott for literally any reason a racist I'm starting to wonder if the Mail have a point about people calling everyone a racist.

Not really the Mail complains about racists being accused of being racist. And observations on racial politics is one of the areas Diane is spot on.
