For sure there are some black marks in his record and some dodgy directorships, but he is constant, at ease with himself and without malice. Before he shuffles off hopefully into retirement, I think there is no higher accolade than your own section in Mailwatch.

Rotten health minister but an impressive chancellor that was lost amidst the decline of the Major government and Brown owes a debt of gratitude to. He raised taxes when the economy was expanding rather than handing tax cut bribes. His words to voters along the lines of; You're all doing better so suck it up as you'd be the first to tell me there's no magic money tree.
